    Thank you for posting this. It gives people alot to think of. Looking into building a small cabin off the grid on land my husband is getting from family. Can we function without electric???

    What state is this? Some will put up obstacles to what you can build, or if you can have a well, etc. Also, I spend free time scouring internet for land sales and the only land I find at the prices you mentioned were polluted, or had something wrong with it. If you're going to homestead and supply all the family food, with proper crop rotations, I recommend a minimum of 5 acres (and if you can find it with a source of water, even better!).
